Title: Dialogues on CDM and Future international Actions to address Global Climate change
Coordinating Institutions: Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) (Link to Process)
Objective: The Dialogue aims at enabling negotiators to engage in informal discussions away from the negotiations; to focus on technical, rather than political issues; and to come to a better understanding of the practical issues and their implications for rules negotiated by the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC.
Project Description: The dialogue brings together up to 45 climate negotiators and experts in an informal setting (“off the record” nature of the dialogue meetings). Since May 2002, it is held twice a year together with the „CDM Dialogue“ also organised by CCAP. Once a year a special „Dialogue for Developing Countries“ promotes the exchange between up to 15 representatives of developing countries.
The last meeting was held in January 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The meeting re-focused the dialogue on the key elements and principles for an international “post-2012” climate change policy agreement and explored key aspects of that agreement in depth.
