| Project Description: | The official negotiating process on the second commitment
period of the Kyoto Protocol has started in 2005 (Articles 3.9 and 9.2
of the Kyoto Protocol). A seminar of governmental experts on past and future actions has been held in Bonn, Germany, 16-17 May
2005. Although it was an informal "seminar" it was the first time that countries officially exchanged
information on next steps after 2012 under the UNFCCC.
The COP 12, COP/MOP 2 took place in Nairobi on 6 - 17 November 2006. The twenty-sixth session and Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG), Third session will take place in Bonn, Germany on 7-18 May 2007. It includes the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG) and the Dialogue on long-term cooperative action to address climate change by enhancing implementation of the Convention On 3–7 September 2007 the intersessional meetings of the AWG and the Dialogue are planned to be hosted in Vienna, Austria. |
