Objective: This project was initiated in 1999 and was finalised in 2001. It aimed at
  • investigating options for a long-term climate policy strategy in the Netherlands in an international context,
  • contributing to the development of methods for participatory integrated assessment. (COOL-website)
Project Description: “The Climate OptiOns for the Long term (COOL) project was funded by the Dutch National Research Programme on Global Air Pollution and Climate Change (NRP).(...)
The COOL project sets up dialogues in which policymakers, stakeholders and scientists assess options for long-term climate strategies. In this way, a range of experiences and insights is included in the process and taken into account when designing effective strategies. The participatory character of the project is very important because of the uncertainties shrouding the climate issue, the strong links with other areas of policy making and the many interests at stake.
